The Time Tracking settings page is where you configure how your team's time clock works — from your payroll cycle and workweek start, to mobile clock-in rules, geo-fencing, and real-time GPS location tracking. These settings apply across your entire account.
Getting There
Click the gear icon at the bottom of the left navigation to open Settings, then select Time Tracking under the Timesheets group.
💡 Most settings on this page save automatically as you change them. The geo-fence section has its own Save button — make sure to click it after adjusting the location or fence size.
Payroll Settings
Start of Workweek — The day your workweek begins (e.g., Sunday or Monday). This affects how weekly hours and overtime thresholds are calculated.
Payroll cycle — How often your payroll runs: weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or every 4 weeks.
First payroll period begins on — The start date of your first payroll period, used to align all future pay period calculations.
Mobile Time Clock
Mobile time clock enabled — When on, employees can clock in and out using the Teamsly mobile app. GPS location is captured for every clock-in, clock-out, and break event.
Unscheduled shift clock-in from the mobile app enabled — When on, employees can clock in even if they don't have a scheduled shift assigned.
Tips
Do your users declare cash and credit tips? — When enabled, Cash Tips and Credit Tips fields appear on each employee's time card after clocking out.
Geo-Fence
Geo-fence enabled — When on, employees can only clock in from the mobile app when they're physically within a set radius of your location's address.
When geo-fencing is enabled, a map appears below where you can:
Select a Location from the dropdown (if you have multiple locations, configure each one separately)
Enter the Location Address — the center point of the geo-fence
Adjust the Fence size slider to set the radius in feet — the shaded circle on the map shows the allowed clock-in zone
Click Save to apply your geo-fence settings for that location.
Real-Time Location & Route Tracking
Real-time location & route tracking enabled — When on, Teamsly tracks the live GPS location and travel route of employees while they're clocked in. Tracking starts when an employee clocks in and stops automatically when they clock out.
Roles with real-time location enabled — Choose which roles are tracked. Defaults to All Roles. Employees in tracked roles are required to keep location permissions set to Always on their phones in order to clock in.
📍 When real-time location is enabled, managers can see where clocked-in employees are right now on a live map on the manager dashboard. You can also tap any employee to view the route they've traveled during their current or previous shifts.
🔒 Employees are informed when location tracking is active. Tracking is limited to working hours only — it stops the moment an employee clocks out and is never active outside of shifts.
