Schedule Enforcements give you control over how and when employees can clock in and out. These settings help prevent time theft, reduce missed clock-outs, and keep your timesheets accurate with minimal manual correction. All five settings live on a single page in Settings.
Getting There
Click the gear icon at the bottom of the left navigation to open Settings, then select Enforcements under the Timesheets group.
Mark Employees as Late
Enable Mark an employee as late if they clock in X minutes after their scheduled shift start time and set the grace period in minutes. Any employee who clocks in after that window will be flagged as late on their timecard. This appears as an issue in the Timesheets view so managers can review it.
Prevent Early Clock-Ins
Enable Prevent employees from clocking in more than X minutes before their scheduled shift start time and set the number of minutes. Employees who try to clock in too early will be blocked until the window opens.
💡 Managers can override this restriction and clock an employee in manually if needed — for example, if someone needs to start early on a particular day.
Clock-Out Reminder
Enable Clock-Out Notification Reminder to automatically notify employees via push notification or SMS if they haven't clocked out after their scheduled shift ends. This reduces missed clock-outs and the manual timecard corrections that come with them.
Tip Declarations
Enable Ask employees to declare their cash tips after their shift ends to prompt employees to enter their cash tip amount in the mobile app when they clock out. Use the dropdown to select which roles this applies to.
💡 Tip declaration fields (Cash Tips and Credit Tips) must also be enabled in Time Tracking settings for them to appear on timecards. See Time Clock Options for that setting.
Automatic Clock-Out
Enable Automatically clock employees out X minutes after their scheduled shift ends and set the number of minutes. If an employee forgets to clock out, the system will do it for them at that point — keeping timecards accurate and preventing runaway hours from accumulating on the timesheet.
⚠️ Automatic clock-out uses the scheduled shift end time as its reference. If an employee legitimately works past their scheduled end time, make sure to adjust their timecard manually before approving it for payroll.
