Overtime Settings

How to configure daily and weekly overtime thresholds and pay multipliers in Teamsly, and how overtime is automatically calculated on timesheets

Overtime rules ensure employees are paid correctly when they work long shifts or exceed weekly hour limits. Once configured, Teamsly automatically calculates overtime on every timecard — you'll see it broken out as a separate column in the Timesheets view, highlighted in red, and included in each employee's estimated pay total.

Getting There

Click the gear icon at the bottom of the left navigation to open Settings, then select Overtime & Breaks under the Timesheets group. Overtime settings are at the top of that page.

Daily Overtime

Set pay multipliers that apply when an employee works beyond a threshold in a single day:

  • After 8 hours per day — enable this and set the multiplier (e.g., 1.5× = time and a half)

  • After 12 hours per day — enable this to apply a higher multiplier for very long shifts (e.g., 2× = double time)

Both thresholds can be enabled at the same time, with different multipliers for each tier.

Weekly Overtime

  • After X hours per week — set the weekly hour threshold and the pay multiplier that applies once it's crossed (e.g., 1.5× after 40 hours). You can adjust the hour limit to match your local labor laws.

  • Calculate overtime for salaried employees below $35,568 — enable this to apply overtime calculations to salaried employees under the federal salary threshold.

Click Save after configuring your overtime rules.

📊 Once overtime rules are set, all calculations happen automatically. In the Timesheets view, overtime hours appear in their own Overtime column highlighted in red, and are factored into each employee's Hours Paid and Est Pay totals.

⚠️ If you're unsure which overtime rules apply to your state or industry, consult a labor law advisor before configuring these settings.
