Using the Kiosk as a Manager

How managers use the Teamsly kiosk to clock employees in and out on their behalf, clock themselves in, switch or delete kiosks, and end the kiosk session

When a manager signs in at the kiosk, they get extra tools: clocking employees in and out on their behalf, clocking themselves in, switching the tablet to a different kiosk, and ending the kiosk session.

Anyone with an access level other than Employee — Manager, Admin, or Account Owner — sees the manager screen when they sign in with their PIN or email and password.

The Manager Screen

After signing in you'll see Welcome, [your name] and a Manager access badge in the bottom left. From here you can choose:

  • Clock in the team — Clock employees in or out on their behalf

  • My time clock — Clock yourself in, take a break, or clock out

  • Manage kiosk — Switch this tablet to another kiosk, create a kiosk, or delete one

  • End kiosk session — Stop using this tablet as a time clock

Clocking the Team In and Out

Tap Clock in the team to see everyone assigned to this location. People who are on the clock are listed first, followed by everyone else in alphabetical order. Use Search by name to find someone quickly.

Each person shows their role and status:

  • On the clock since [time] — They're clocked in. You'll also see On break if they're on a break, or another location's name if they're clocked in somewhere else.

  • Not clocked in — They're not on the clock.

To clock someone in

  1. Tap Clock in next to their name.

  2. In Clock in [name]?, select their scheduled shift or Unscheduled shift (if your company allows it).

  3. If asked, choose their Role and Job code.

  4. Tap Clock in, or Not now to cancel.

💡 Early clock-in limits don't apply when a manager clocks someone in, so you can start an employee's shift early when you need to.

To clock someone out

  1. Tap Clock out next to their name.

  2. In Clock out [name]?, tap Clock out to confirm. Their shift is closed out at the current time.

📝 When you clock someone out, they aren't asked to confirm missed breaks or declare tips. If you need to adjust their breaks or add tips, edit their timecard afterward. See Creating and Editing Time Cards.

The list refreshes automatically every 30 seconds. Tap Back to return to the manager screen.

Clocking Yourself In

Tap My time clock to clock yourself in, take a break, add a job code or note, or clock out. It works exactly like it does for employees — see Clocking In and Out on the Kiosk. Tap Back to return to the manager screen.

Managing the Kiosk

Tap Manage kiosk to see "Switch this tablet to another kiosk." You can:

  • Switch kiosks — Select a different kiosk from the list and tap Save. Anyone currently signed in is signed out.

  • Create a new kiosk — Enter a Kiosk name, choose a Location, and tap Save. This tablet switches to the new kiosk.

  • Delete a kiosk — Tap the trash icon next to a kiosk, then tap Delete. If the kiosk is in use on a tablet (including this one), that tablet is signed out and returns to the setup screen. Time already recorded isn't affected.

🔒 Managing kiosks requires the "Who can set up and manage time clocks and kiosks?" permission. The Account Owner and Admins have it by default. Kiosks are managed from the tablet — there isn't a kiosk list in the Teamsly web app.

Ending the Kiosk Session

When you no longer want the tablet to act as a time clock — for example, if you're moving it or replacing it:

  1. Tap End kiosk session.

  2. In End kiosk session?, tap End session.

The tablet disconnects and returns to Admin sign in. The kiosk itself isn't deleted — an admin can sign in again and select it under YOUR KIOSKS to start it back up. See Setting Up the Kiosk on a Tablet.

⚠️ Any manager can end the kiosk session, but setting the kiosk up again requires someone with the kiosk permission. If more than one tablet is connected to the same kiosk, ending the session signs out all of them.

Locking the Kiosk

Tap Lock kiosk in the top right whenever you step away. The kiosk also locks itself after 60 seconds without a tap, returning to the PIN screen.
