Troubleshooting the Kiosk

Fixes for common Teamsly kiosk problems — PIN and sign-in errors, clock-in issues, connection messages, and setup errors

Most kiosk problems come down to a PIN, a location assignment, the tablet's connection, or a setting. Find the message or symptom you're seeing below.

Sign-In Problems

"Incorrect PIN, please try again."

  • Double-check your PIN in the Teamsly mobile app under More → Personal information → Login PIN, or on your profile on the web.

  • Make sure you're assigned to the kiosk's location. A kiosk only accepts PINs from employees who work at its location — a manager can add the location on your profile's Locations / Roles tab.

  • If you're sure the PIN is right, ask your manager to give you a new PIN from your profile. Each PIN must be unique within your company.

I don't have a PIN

Every employee gets a PIN automatically when they're added. If yours is blank, a manager can open your profile, edit it, and enter a 4-digit Login PIN. Until then, tap Use your username and password instead and sign in with your email and password.

I sign in to Teamsly with my phone number

Phone number sign-in isn't available on the kiosk. Use your 4-digit Login PIN instead.

"You're not assigned to this location."

Your account isn't assigned to the location this kiosk belongs to. Ask a manager to add the location on your profile's Locations / Roles tab, or use a kiosk at your own location.

"Too many attempts. Try again in 30 seconds."

For security, the kiosk pauses sign-ins after several attempts in a row. Wait up to a minute and try again.

"The username or password is not correct."

Enter your email address in the Username field. If you've forgotten your password, tap Forgot your PIN?, enter your email, and tap Send password reset.

Clock-In Problems

The Clock in button is grayed out with a countdown

Your company prevents clocking in too early. The message (for example, "You can clock in in 2m 0s.") shows how long until you can clock in. A manager can clock you in early from Clock in the team if needed. See Schedule Enforcements.

There's no "Unscheduled shift" option

Your company has turned off unscheduled clock-ins, so you can only clock in to a scheduled shift. If you see "You have no shifts scheduled today.", ask your manager to add a shift or clock you in.

I don't see "Take a break" or "Add job code"

  • Take a break only appears when a break is available for your shift based on your company's break settings.

  • Add job code only appears when your company uses job codes.

"Your break isn't over yet"

Your company requires you to take your full break before ending it. Tap Keep my break going and come back after the time shown.

Tablet and Connection Problems

"No connection — punches can't be saved right now."

The tablet couldn't reach Teamsly. Check that it's connected to Wi-Fi, then close and reopen the Teamsly Time Clock app. Punches made while the kiosk is offline aren't saved, so employees should clock in on the mobile app or tell a manager until the connection is back.

"Something went wrong. Please try again." or "That didn't go through. Please try again."

This usually means a brief connection problem. Wait a moment and try again. If it keeps happening, check the tablet's Wi-Fi.

"Update Required"

A newer version of the Teamsly Time Clock app is required. Tap Update Now. If the tablet is locked with Guided Access (iPad) or App pinning (Android), exit it first, update the app, then lock the tablet again.

The tablet is back on the "Admin sign in" screen

This happens when a manager ends the kiosk session, someone deletes the kiosk, or the tablet has been connected for a year. An admin can sign in and select the kiosk under YOUR KIOSKS (or create a new one) to get it running again. See Setting Up the Kiosk on a Tablet.

Clock-in times look wrong

The kiosk uses the tablet's clock. Open the tablet's settings and make sure the date, time, and time zone are set automatically. Correct any affected timecards in Timesheets — see Correcting Missed Clock-Ins or Clock-Outs.

A setting I changed isn't showing on the kiosk

The kiosk loads your company's time clock settings when the app opens. Close and reopen the Teamsly Time Clock app on the tablet.

Setup Problems

"Your account does not have permission to set up a kiosk."

Setting up kiosks requires the "Who can set up and manage time clocks and kiosks?" permission. The Account Owner and Admins have it by default. Ask your Account Owner to set up the kiosk or update your access level — see Setting Up Permissions and Access Levels.

"A kiosk with that name already exists."

Kiosk names must be unique within your company. Choose a different name, or select the existing kiosk under YOUR KIOSKS.

I can't sign in to set up the kiosk

Kiosk setup needs an email and password. If you normally sign in with your phone number, add an email and password in the Teamsly mobile app under More → Personal information first.

Common Questions

  • Does the kiosk track GPS location or take photos? No. The tablet stays at your location, so geo-fencing and live location tracking don't apply to kiosk clock-ins.

  • Can employees see their schedule or timesheets on the kiosk? No. The kiosk is only for clocking in and out, breaks, job codes, and notes. Employees can see everything else in the Teamsly mobile app.

  • Where do kiosk punches show up? On the employee's timecard and in Timesheets, just like clock-ins from the mobile app or web.

  • Can I use a phone as a kiosk? No. The Teamsly Time Clock app is designed for iPads and Android tablets in landscape mode.
