Location Permissions Are Off — How to Fix It

What to do when location permissions are turned off for an employee in Teamsly and how to restore them on iOS and Android

If you see a "Location Permissions Off" warning on the manager dashboard next to an employee, it means Teamsly no longer has the location access it needs to track that employee. This is always a device-level setting that the employee can fix in a few taps.

What Causes This

This warning appears when an employee's device location permission for Teamsly has been changed or revoked. Common causes:

  • The employee updated their phone's OS and location permissions were reset

  • The employee manually changed Teamsly's location permission in device Settings

  • The employee tapped "Don't Allow" when prompted for location access during clock-in

  • On iOS, the system may have automatically changed the permission after a period of inactivity

How to Fix It on iPhone (iOS)

  1. Open Settings on the iPhone.

  2. Scroll down and tap Teamsly.

  3. Tap Location.

  4. Select Always.

  5. Make sure Precise Location is toggled on.

Once updated, open Teamsly and the warning should clear. If the employee is currently clocked in, location tracking will resume immediately.

How to Fix It on Android

  1. Open Settings on the Android device.

  2. Tap LocationApp permissions.

  3. Find and tap Teamsly.

  4. Select Allow all the time.

  5. Return to Location settings, tap Improve accuracy, and enable Wi-Fi scanning.

Once updated, open Teamsly and the warning should clear.

💡 If the employee is in a tracked role and location permissions remain off, they may be unable to clock in. Have them update their permissions before their next shift to avoid clock-in issues.

📋 Managers can always clock an employee in manually from the web schedule while the employee resolves their permissions on their device.
