Live Location & Route Tracking gives managers real-time visibility into where employees are during their shifts. When enabled, the manager dashboard shows a live map of all clocked-in employees and their routes. Tracking starts automatically when an employee clocks in and stops the moment they clock out — it's never active outside of working hours.
Getting There
To enable this feature, click the gear icon at the bottom of the left navigation to open Settings, then select Time Tracking under the Timesheets group.
Enabling Live Location Tracking
Scroll to Real-time location & route tracking enabled and toggle it on.
Under Roles with real-time location enabled, select which roles should be tracked. Defaults to All Roles — you can narrow it to specific roles if you only need tracking for certain positions.
Click Save.
🔒 Employees in tracked roles are informed when location tracking is active. Tracking is limited to working hours only — it starts at clock-in and stops automatically at clock-out.
What Employees See When Clocking In
When an employee in a tracked role taps Clock In, the app will prompt them to enable location access if it hasn't been granted yet. The prompt explains that live location is used only while clocked in and stops automatically when they clock out.
Required iPhone Settings (iOS)
For location updates to continue when the app is running in the background, employees need to set their iPhone location permission to Always:
Open Settings on the iPhone.
Tap Teamsly.
Tap Location.
Select Always.
Turn on Precise Location.
📱 Employees in tracked roles are required to keep location permissions set to Always in order to clock in. Without it, the time clock may be unavailable.
Viewing Live Locations on the Manager Dashboard
Once tracking is enabled, the manager dashboard shows a Live Locations widget with a real-time map of all currently clocked-in employees. The widget also shows a list of employees who are clocked in and those who have clocked out today, so you have a full picture of who's on shift at any given moment.
Viewing an Employee's Route
To see the path an employee has traveled during their shift, open the Live Locations widget on the dashboard and click on an individual employee. The map updates to show the full route they've taken during their active shift, including the miles driven or walked. You can also view routes from previous shifts to review historical movement.
