Overtime Notifications alert managers when an employee is approaching or has reached their overtime threshold. This gives you time to adjust the schedule before labor costs run over — rather than finding out after the fact on the timesheet.
Getting There
Click the gear icon at the bottom of the left navigation to open Settings, then select Overtime & Breaks under the Timesheets group. Overtime Notifications are in the middle section of that page.
Overtime Notification Settings
There are two independent notifications you can enable:
Notify managers when an employee approaches X hours in a week — sends an alert when an employee gets within a set number of hours of their weekly overtime threshold.
Alert managers when an employee reaches overtime — sends a notification the moment an employee crosses into overtime territory based on your configured thresholds.
💡 Enable both notifications together for maximum visibility — the approaching alert gives you time to pull back hours before overtime hits, and the reached alert confirms when it does.
Who Receives Notifications
Overtime notifications are sent to managers and administrators. Employees do not receive these alerts.
Overtime Thresholds
The overtime thresholds these notifications are based on are set in the Overtime section just above on the same page. Teamsly supports:
Daily Overtime — set a pay multiplier after a set number of hours in a single day (e.g., 1.5× after 8 hours, 2× after 12 hours)
Weekly Overtime — set a pay multiplier after a set number of hours in a week (e.g., 1.5× after 40 hours)
Salaried employee exception — optionally apply overtime calculations to salaried employees earning below $35,568 per year
Click Save after updating any overtime threshold settings.
📊 Employees flagged as approaching or in overtime are also shown in the schedule builder's Users Overtime alert at the top of the Employee view, so you can spot and fix overtime issues before publishing.
