Assigning a Job Code to a Shift

How to assign a job code to a shift when scheduling so it auto-populates at clock-in

You can pre-assign a job code to a shift when scheduling it. When the employee clocks in for that shift, the assigned job code is automatically populated in the dropdown — saving them a step and ensuring the right code is selected every time.

Getting There

Go to Schedule in the left navigation and open the schedule you want to work on.

Assigning a Job Code When Creating a Shift

  1. Click any cell in the schedule to open the shift editor, or click the + button to add a new shift.

  2. Fill in the date, time, role, and employee as normal.

  3. Click the Job Code (optional) dropdown and select the job code for this shift.

  4. Click Save.

Assigning a Job Code to an Existing Shift

  1. Click on an existing shift to open it.

  2. On a draft schedule the shift opens in edit mode directly. On a published schedule, click More → Edit Shift.

  3. Select a job code from the Job Code dropdown.

  4. Click Save.

💡 When a shift has a pre-assigned job code, the employee's clock-in screen shows that code already selected. They can change it if needed — the pre-assignment is a default, not a lock.
