Making and Receiving Calls in the Mobile App

How to call a coworker from the Teamsly mobile app, answer incoming calls on iPhone and Android, use mute and speaker, and find your call history and missed calls

Once your company has calling turned on, you can call your coworkers right from the Teamsly mobile app. This article walks you through starting a call, answering one, and finding your call history.

🎙️ The first time you open the app after calling is turned on, you'll be asked to allow your microphone. Tap Continue, then allow access when your phone asks. If you skipped it, see Fixing Microphone and Notification Permissions for Calls.

Starting a Call

There are two ways to call someone:

From the Calls tab

  1. Tap Chats in the bottom navigation, then tap Calls at the top.

  2. Tap the phone button in the bottom right to open New Call.

  3. Search for the person you want to call and tap their name.

From someone's profile

  1. Tap Team (or Colleagues) in the bottom navigation.

  2. Tap the person's name to open their profile.

  3. Tap Call.

📞 Tapping the phone number listed on someone's profile opens your phone's regular dialer instead — that's a normal phone call, not a Teamsly call.

If you can't call someone

You may see one of these next to a person's name instead of a Call button:

  • Hasn't set up calling — They haven't opened the Teamsly app since calling was turned on. Ask them to open the app and sign in.

  • Not accepting calls — They've turned off Receive Calls in their notification settings.

  • Unavailable — Calling isn't available for this person right now, for example because your company has reached its monthly calling limit.

Employees only see managers, admins, and the Account Owner in their call list — employees can't call other employees. See In-App Calling Overview.

During a Call

While the call connects you'll see Calling… and hear it ring. Once the other person answers, a timer shows how long you've been talking. You can tap:

  • Mute / Unmute — Turn your microphone off or on

  • Speaker — Switch to speakerphone

  • Hang Up — End the call

When the call ends you'll briefly see Call ended.

Answering a Call

Teamsly calls ring even when the app is closed, as long as you're signed in and notifications are allowed.

  • iPhone — Incoming Teamsly calls use the same full-screen call screen as regular phone calls, including on the lock screen. Slide or tap to answer.

  • Android — Incoming calls show a full-screen Incoming call screen with Answer and Decline. If the call shows as a small banner instead, see Fixing Microphone and Notification Permissions for Calls.

🔕 Whether a call rings when your phone is on Silent or Do Not Disturb depends on your phone's settings, the same as any other call or notification.

Missed Calls

If you don't answer within about 30 seconds, the call ends and you get a notification: "Missed call from [name]". Tap it to open your call history.

Your Call History

Tap Chats in the bottom navigation, then Calls, to see your recent calls. Each call shows the other person, when it happened, and whether it was Incoming, Outgoing, or Missed, along with how long it lasted. If you haven't made or received any calls yet, you'll see No Calls.

If a Call Doesn't Go Through

  • "Call failed — We couldn't connect that call. Please try again." — Check your internet connection and try again.

  • "Calling isn't available right now." — Calling has been turned off for your company, or the person can't receive calls right now.

  • "Calling limit reached" — Your company has used its monthly calling allowance. Calling will be available again next month.

  • "Microphone required" — Teamsly doesn't have access to your microphone. Tap Open Settings and allow it.

  • The call rings but nobody answers — The other person may be busy, have their phone on silent, or have notifications turned off. Try again later or send them a chat.
