In-App Calling Overview

How in-app calling works in the Teamsly mobile app, who can call whom, how to turn it on, and the monthly allowance and other calling limits

In-app calling lets your team talk to each other with a voice call right inside the Teamsly mobile app — no personal phone numbers needed. Employees can call their managers, and managers can call anyone on the team, all over Wi-Fi or mobile data.

This article covers how calling works, who can call whom, how to turn it on, and the limits that apply.

How Calling Works

  • App to app — Calls go from one Teamsly mobile app to another. You can't call regular phone numbers from Teamsly, and nobody's personal number is shared.

  • Mobile app only — Calling works in the Teamsly app on iPhone and Android. You can't make or answer calls from the web app.

  • One-to-one — Each call is between two people. Group or conference calls aren't available.

  • Never recorded — Teamsly never records your calls. Your microphone is only used while you're on a call.

Who Can Call Whom

  • Managers, Admins, and the Account Owner can call anyone on the team.

  • Employees can call managers, admins, and the Account Owner. Employees can't call other employees — they won't appear in the employee's call list.

The person you're calling also needs to:

  • Have the Teamsly mobile app installed and have signed in at least once since calling was turned on. Until then they show "Hasn't set up calling".

  • Have Receive Calls turned on. If they've turned it off, they show "Not accepting calls".

Turning On Calling for Your Company

In-app calling is included in the All-In-One plan and during your free trial. To turn it on:

  1. Click the gear icon at the bottom of the left navigation to open Settings, then select Modules on/off.

  2. Find In-App Calling and switch the toggle to Calling module enabled.

Calling appears for your team the next time they open the mobile app. To turn calling off for everyone, switch the toggle back to Calling module disabled.

💳 On the Free or Basic plan, the In-App Calling module shows an upgrade note instead of a toggle. See Changing Plans or Employee Limits.

Turning Off Incoming Calls for Yourself

Anyone can choose not to receive calls. In the mobile app, go to More → Account Settings → Notifications & Alerts and turn off Receive Calls ("Allow coworkers to call you in the app"). Coworkers will see "Not accepting calls" next to your name. You can still make calls yourself.

Calling Limits

These limits keep calling reliable and affordable for every company:

  • Monthly calling allowance — Each company has a shared monthly allowance of talk time, roughly 20 hours of connected calls per month across your whole team (all locations, managers and employees combined). Only time spent talking counts — ringing doesn't. The allowance resets at the start of each calendar month (UTC).

  • When the allowance runs out — Calling pauses for everyone in your company until next month. Anyone who tries to call sees "Calling limit reached — Your organization has reached its monthly calling limit. Calling will be available again next month."

  • Maximum call length — A single call can last up to 60 minutes, then it ends automatically. When your company is close to its monthly allowance, calls may end sooner.

  • Calls in a short time — Each person can start up to 15 calls in any 15-minute period. After that, the caller hears "You have made too many calls recently. Please try again later." Wait a few minutes and try again.

  • Ring time — An unanswered call rings for about 30 seconds before it ends and the other person gets a missed-call notification.

📶 Calls use Wi-Fi or mobile data, not cell minutes. Call quality depends on both people's internet connection.
