Viewing an Employee's Location History & Route

How managers can view an employee's historical GPS routes and location data from past shifts in Teamsly

Teamsly saves every employee's GPS location and travel route during their shifts, so you can review where they were on any given day — not just right now. This article explains how to access and use historical location data.

Getting There

Click Home in the left navigation to open the manager dashboard, then click the Live Status tab. Click the expand icon in the top right of the widget to open it in full screen.

Viewing a Past Shift Route

  1. In the full screen Live Status view, click the date dropdown (showing today's date by default) and select the date you want to review.

  2. The employee list updates to show all employees who were clocked in on that date.

  3. Click any employee's name to view their route for that day on the map — the full path they traveled is drawn on the map, showing their movement from clock-in to clock-out.

💡 Route history is only available for employees whose roles had real-time tracking enabled on the date you're reviewing. Clock event GPS stamps (the location at clock-in and clock-out) are available for all employees regardless of real-time tracking.

What the Route Shows

When viewing an employee's route, the map displays:

  • The full path traveled during the shift, drawn as a continuous line on the map

  • The starting point (clock-in location) and ending point (clock-out location)

  • The distance traveled during the shift

Clock Event GPS Stamps on Timecards

Even without real-time tracking, every employee's timecard includes a GPS stamp for each clock event — clock-in, clock-out, and breaks. To view these, go to Timesheets in the left navigation, find the employee's timecard, and open the entry. The location captured at each event is shown alongside the time.

⚠️ If there are gaps in an employee's route — where the path appears to jump from one location to another — this is typically caused by a temporary loss of GPS signal. The route resumes tracking once signal is restored. See Troubleshooting GPS & Location Issues for more detail.
