Editing or Ending a Recurring Task

How to edit, pause, or delete a recurring task or task list in Teamsly — and what changes apply to the whole series

If your routine changes, you can update a recurring task or task list at any time — or stop it from generating new tasks entirely. All edits to recurring tasks apply to the whole series going forward. There is no option to edit a single occurrence only.

Getting There

Click the Task Manager icon in the left navigation, go to the Manage tab, and find the task list or single task you want to change. Click Edit (pencil icon) on the task list, or the edit icon next to a single task.

Editing a Recurring Task List

Open the task list edit form. You can change any of the following and the update will apply to all future occurrences:

  • Title or description — Update the name or instructions shown to employees.

  • Repeating schedule — Change from Daily to Weekly, or switch to "Does not repeat."

  • Start time or due time — Adjust when the tasks become active or when they're due.

  • Tasks — Add new tasks, remove existing ones, or change the assignment or photo requirements on individual tasks.

  • Published toggle — Turn off to pause the task list without deleting it.

Click Save to apply the changes.

⚠️ Edits to a recurring task list affect the whole series — all future occurrences will reflect your changes. Tasks that have already been completed and appear in the History tab are not changed retroactively.

Editing a Recurring Single Task

Find the single task under the Single Tasks section on the Manage tab and click Edit. You can update the title, description, assignment, recurrence, start time, due time, and photo requirement. Click Save — the changes apply to all future occurrences.

Pausing a Recurring Task List

To temporarily stop a task list from generating new tasks without deleting it, open the task list edit form and toggle Published off, then click Save. Turn the Published toggle back on to reactivate it.

Ending (Deleting) a Recurring Task or Task List

To permanently stop a recurring task list, open the edit form and click the trash icon next to the Save button. To delete a recurring single task, click the trash icon next to it on the Manage tab. Deleting stops all future task generation. Historical completions in the History tab are preserved.

💡 If you're unsure whether you'll need the task list again, pause it with the Published toggle instead of deleting it. You can reactivate it any time without having to rebuild it from scratch.
