When creating a task or task list, you can add an optional description to give employees more context, and set a start time and due time to control when the task becomes active and when it's considered overdue. These details help your team stay on schedule and know exactly what's expected of them.
Getting There
Click the Task Manager icon in the left navigation, go to the Manage tab, and click Add Single Task or Edit on an existing task list.
Adding a Description
Both task lists and single tasks have an optional Description field. Use this to give employees clear instructions about what the task involves — for example, "Check and log all cooler temperatures. If any reading is above 40°F, notify the kitchen manager immediately."
Descriptions are visible to the employee when they open the task on mobile, in the Details section of the task detail screen.
💡 Descriptions are especially useful for tasks that require specific steps or compliance standards — anything where just the task title isn't enough context for the employee to complete it correctly.
Setting a Start Time
The Start Time is when the task or task list becomes active for employees. For example, an Opening Checklist might have a Start Time of 6:00 AM. On the task detail screen in the mobile app, the start time is shown alongside the due time.
Setting a Due Time
The Due Time is the deadline for the task. Any task not completed by the due time is marked Overdue and highlighted in pink on both the Today tab and in the mobile app. Overdue tasks remain visible and can still be completed — they don't disappear after the deadline.
📋 For task lists, the Start Time and Due Time apply to every task in the list. If you need different due times for different tasks, create them as separate single tasks instead.
Start and Due Times on Mobile
When employees tap a task on the mobile app, the task detail screen shows the full breakdown: the task list it belongs to, the due time, the start time, the priority level, and the assignment.
