Understanding Company Settings

A complete reference guide to every setting in Teamsly — time tracking, overtime, locations, modules, and more

The Settings area in Teamsly is your control center for everything that affects how your whole account works — from payroll and time tracking rules to location setup, overtime policies, and module visibility. This article gives you a full reference for every settings section so you know exactly where to go and what each option does.

Open Settings by clicking the gear icon at the bottom of the left navigation.

Settings Group

Company Details

Update your company name, account owner, and logo. Manage all your physical locations here — each location's address sets its time zone for scheduling and timesheets. See Company Details and Locations for a full walkthrough.

Plan & Billing

View your current subscription plan and manage payment details. This is also where you can delete your company account.

🔒 Only the Account Owner can access Plan & Billing settings.

Departments & Roles

Create and manage the departments your business is organized into, and the roles within each department. Use New Department and New Role to add more at any time. Roles determine what employees can be scheduled for and how they appear in timesheets and reports.

Modules On/Off

Turn individual features on or off for your entire account. Changes apply instantly. See How to Enable or Disable Modules for details on each module.

Feedback Group

Shift Feedback

Automatically send employees a push notification after their shift ends asking for feedback. Configure how many minutes after the shift ends to send it, and which days of the week to send it on.

Timesheets Group

Time Tracking

Configure the core rules for how your team tracks time:

  • Start of Workweek — The day your workweek begins (affects timesheet totals and overtime calculations)

  • Payroll cycle — Weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly

  • First payroll period date — The start date of your first payroll period

  • Mobile time clock — Allow employees to clock in and out from the mobile app

  • Unscheduled shift clock-in — Allow employees to clock in without a scheduled shift

  • Cash & credit tips — Let employees declare cash and credit tips after a shift

  • Geo-fence — Restrict mobile clock-ins to within a set distance of each location's address

  • Real-time location & route tracking — Track the live GPS location and travel route of clocked-in employees. Choose which roles are tracked and set the geo-fence radius per location on a map

Overtime & Breaks

Set your overtime thresholds and break rules:

  • Daily overtime — For example, after 8 hours at 1.5× and after 12 hours at 2×

  • Weekly overtime — For example, after 40 hours at 1.5×

  • Salaried employees — Flag employees below the salary threshold so overtime rules apply correctly

  • Overtime notifications — Alert managers when an employee is approaching overtime

  • Manual Breaks — Set as paid or unpaid, and optional or mandatory after a set number of hours worked

  • Automatic Breaks — Deduct break time automatically based on shift length

Enforcements

Rules that keep time records accurate:

  • Mark late after X minutes — Flag employees as late if they clock in past this threshold

  • Prevent early clock-in — Stop employees from clocking in more than X minutes before their shift

  • Clock-out reminder — Send a push notification if an employee hasn't clocked out

  • Declare tips after shift — Prompt employees to declare tips when they clock out

  • Auto clock-out — Automatically clock out employees a set number of minutes after their shift ends

On-Call Shifts

Configure how on-call time is scheduled and paid:

  • Enable on-call shifts — Turn this on to allow on-call scheduling

  • Pay type — Choose No Pay, Flat Stipend Per Shift, or Hourly Rate for on-call stand-by time

  • Called-in pay multiplier — Set a pay multiplier for when an on-call employee is actually called in to work

📋 On-call time appears as its own separate row on the timesheet and does not count toward overtime calculations.

Job Codes Group

Job Codes

If the Job Codes module is enabled, you can create and manage job codes here. Job codes let employees select what job or task they're working on when they clock in. They can start and end multiple job codes within a single shift, making it easy to track time against specific clients, projects, or cost codes.

My Settings

Notifications & Alerts

Control how you personally receive notifications from Teamsly. For each event type, you can choose Email, Push notification, and/or Text message. Events include new schedules published, shift requests, time off updates, announcements, forms and audits, and more.
